Welcome to Trumbley, Madly, Deeply , a blog about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, set on two continents.
My husband is American, I’m British. We’ve worked through two years as a long distance marriage, a lot of visa paperwork and the loss of my father. We continue to work towards our happy-ever-after in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I’m also step-mum to three wonderful children, and servant to a rather smart terrier who thinks he is a wookie.
I started this blog to chart our adventures in love, family, visa applications and the two countries famously divided by a common language.
These days I’m blogging about my day to day experiences as an immigrant and our occasional adventures in this beautiful country.
If you are looking for visa information and a step-by-step walk through of our process, look for the posts in the Immigration section. They are all tagged Visa Process. I’m happy to answer questions, but I’m not a lawyer and everything is based purely on our experience and I make no guarantees the same will work for you – all cases are different.
If you are looking for things to do, I have a small list of Roadtrip Treasures, which I write about as we come across them. I now collect waterfalls as the UP is famous for them.
Truly Madly Deeply is, in addition to being the inspiration for this blog title,(for more on this see my post here) a wonderful British romantic drama from the 90s and a nifty song by Savage Garden – apologies if you came here looking for them.
Wikipedia says Truly, Madly, Deeply is a 1990 British fantasy music drama film made for the BBC‘s Screen Two series. The film, written and directed by Anthony Minghella, stars Juliet Stevenson and Alan Rickman.
